In the pharmacy benefit consulting world, success doesn’t come from trendy models or one-size-fits-all solutions. It comes from people — the kind who’ve seen everything, fixed most of it, and know when to speak up. Building on our foundation in pharmacy operations, ALTTRAX now offers even greater clinical expertise.
We’re thrilled to announce a major addition to our lineup: Fred Barton, PharmD, our new Chief Clinical Officer.
With more than 20 years in pharmacy—including a decade as a practicing pharmacist—Fred has led across retail, specialty, adherence, medication therapy management (MTM), and high-performing clinical teams. As an early hire at a mission-driven PBM startup, he helped shape nearly every component of operations and drove strategy and sales. He’s not joining the conversation—he’s about to change it.
“What drew me to ALTTRAX was being aligned to their approach,” Fred shared. “I’ve worked directly with employers, consultants, and brokers during the last few years to create a new PBM model that is flexible to client needs and breaks down traditional barriers. I’ve also worked on strategic partnerships with innovative point solutions that bring true value to employers and patients and drive real results.”
Among Fred’s career highlights are:
- Driving innovation in clinical strategy: As Vice President of Clinical Product and Partnerships, Fred developed clinical programs and strategic alliances—using market insights and partner analysis to refine offerings, expand collaborations, and deliver greater value to clients and patients.
- Mastering pharmacy operations at scale: In his role as Vice President of Account Management, he oversaw clinical, vendor, and partnership initiatives, supported complex implementations, and partnered with leadership to shape business growth and operational excellence.
- Building a foundation in hands-on care: Fred began his career in patient-facing roles as a pharmacist and pharmacy manager, gaining deep clinical insight through direct experience in both traditional and specialty care settings.
How Fred can help alter your course and generate traction.
As part of the ALTTRAX team, Fred will partner with clients to navigate the dynamic and increasingly complex pharmacy and health benefits landscape. With a focus on clinical strategy, he will support organizations in evaluating programs and interventions to identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and improve quality of care and patient outcomes.
His approach is rooted in delivering data-driven, unbiased recommendations tailored to each client’s specific needs. By aligning benefit design with clinical best practices, he aims to simplify decision-making, optimize resource utilization, and drive meaningful, measurable improvements in healthcare.
Fred gets it. He’s seen what works, and what doesn’t. He understands how to decode the chaos, build clinical strategies that actually serve people, and help employers finally get the clarity they’ve been promised but rarely receive.
